About Us

Our Mission

We Are Family Home Care strives to foster independence for our clients and peace of mind for their families by building relationships with compassion, communication, and trust. We believe providing care and assistance in the familiar environment of the home enhances quality of life for seniors, people with disabilities, and others coping with severe illness and/or recovering from surgery.

Our Caregivers

Our Caregivers are the backbone of our success and represent our family while assisting yours. Each Caregiver is an employee of our company and not an independent contractor. The responsibility to ensure quality care is ours to give you and your family peace of mind and protection for you or your loved one. We are licensed by the Indiana State Department of Health, bonded, and insured. All Caregivers go through required background checks before they are hired and are required to be tuberculosis (TB) tested.

To ensure that you or your family members receive the best care, we go beyond what is required by the state for licensed personal service agencies. Within 120 days of being hired, we require all of our staff to be CPR certified. Caregivers are trained and certified in accordance with the Indiana Home & Hospice Care Foundation - Work Force Training program. All Caregivers receive ongoing training throughout the year to increase or maintain their knowledge and skills.

We always ask ourselves one final question before hiring our Caregivers: ”Would we allow this person to care for our own loved ones?” Only when we can answer this question with an unequivocal "Yes" do we hire these dependable, compassionate, and trustworthy individuals to join our family of Caregivers.

Our Founders

The founders of We Are Family Home Care come from varied backgrounds and all have a passion for helping others. We are all residents of northwest Indiana and have over 40 years of combined experience in the medical and medical services industry including pharmacy, speech and language pathology, medical equipment sales, and home care.

Margaret Bazarko is a speech language pathologist who has been caring for adults, including seniors, in the local community since 2000. She earned and maintains a Certificate of Clinical Competencies (CCC-SLP) in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA). She has worked in a variety of settings including patient homes, hospitals, and outpatient clinics. Margaret has cared for a large number of patients with communicative, cognitive, swallowing and voice conditions due to neurogenic disorders (i.e. stroke, Parkinson’s, traumatic brain injury), or other acquired disorders. She has given various speeches to multiple patient and caregiver groups locally on speech disorders and treatment options. Mrs. Bazarko provides our agency with a wealth of client care and industry knowledge. Her educational background includes a B.S. in Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences and an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology, both from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Jason Bazarko is the proud husband of Margaret. Jason has been in the real estate and project management industry since 1998. He brings many years of business and financial knowledge to the agency to ensure compliance with state statutes and sound financial practices. His educational background includes a B.S. in Management from Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, Indiana, where he completed a dual major in Accounting and Finance, as well as an M.B.A. from DePaul University, where he concentrated in Finance. Jason and Margaret Bazarko and their two children are members of St.Michael the Archangel Church in Schererville, Indiana.

Laura Alexander is a pharmacist with Walgreens who has been serving Schererville and the surrounding communities since 1987. Her many years serving Northwest Indiana as a healthcare provider have given her added insights into the expanding home-care needs of this area—insights which support our agency. Over the course of her career she's acquired vast experience assisting adults, including seniors, with clinical pharmacy and medication management. She also administers immunizations and has experience with home health equipment and services. Ms. Alexander holds a B.S. in Pharmacy from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She is married, the mother of one son, and a member of Griffith Lutheran Church.
