The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is here . Are you ready to celebrate Christmas and the start of a New Year ? If you’re making a list like Santa, don’t forget home safety tips . 

Christmas inspires us to decorate our tree and homes. If you have a live tree, make sure it has enough water everyday. Any lights you decorate with should be checked for breaks or exposed wires. Outside lights add beauty to our homes . Only use them if you don’t have to run an extension cord through a window or garage door. The smallest crack could expose a home to thieves. 

Unfortunately, thefts do occur this time of year. Keep you cars and homes locked. Leave lights on both inside and out.  This not only gives the appearance of some one being home, it will help prevent falls also. If you have gifts delivered from online shopping , request a signature confirmation or have a trusted neighbor take in your package. Do you have an elderly neighbor ? Keep a watchful eye for any delivery person or solicitors who may be looking to scam an elder. 

Will your home have the wonderful aroma of fresh baked cookies ?  We love to make special meals and treats for our friends and family this time of year.  Be cautious in the kitchen , so an accident doesn’t damper your holiday spirit. Take some time to reflect on the reason for the season. Enjoy your days, peaceful moments and time spent with loved ones.
